COLOMBIAPLAST is a key international trade show for the plastics, rubber, petrochemicals and packaging industries in Latin America. With a population of close to 50 million, Colombia is the world’s third-largest Spanish-speaking country and the region’s fourth-largest economy, going by GDP. Colombia imports plastics processing machinery worth $100 million, and the plastics sector accounts for 15% of the GDP generated by the country’s manufacturing industry. The country’s annual consumption of plastics is in excess of 1.3 million tonnes. This agreement means Messe Düsseldorf’s Global Gate portfolio of plastics and rubber trade shows now features a trade show in this region for the first time. In addition, the trade show is supported by Messe Düsseldorf’s extensive network of sales offices and subsidiaries in 141 countries.
