The Global Gate portfolio of specialist trade shows offers excellent presentation platforms to the highly innovative and fast-growing plastics and rubber industry in growth regions
Messe Düsseldorf has pooled its international activities in plastics and rubber trade fairs under the new brand of Global Gate – a gate to global markets for the export-oriented industry. The product portfolio is comprised of ten events that benefit from Messe Düsseldorf’s long-standing expertise gained as organiser of the K flagship fair in Düsseldorf and the establishment of numerous successful regional events. With the Global Gate portfolio, Messe Düsseldorf offers global players in the plastics and rubber market attractive platforms and direct access to international growth regions. One world. One gate. This service focuses on success – for exhibitors and visitors alike.
In 2018, Russia, India, Algeria, Vietnam, China, Indonesia and Iran are hosting Global Gate events. Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, CEO and President of Messe Düsseldorf, is delighted with the development of the first few months: “Apart from a few critical regions, the international plastics and rubber industry is in excellent shape. It benefits from the predominantly stable global economy and the global growth of the high-quality consumer market. As part of a range of international business activities, specialist trade shows play a major role: exhibitors can present their products and services, get to know their local competitors, form new ties with business partners and finalise contracts – at a negligible economic risk. Visitors are not only provided with a unique opportunity to compare international companies, their products and services at one single venue, they can also contact suppliers and manufacturers in person to find the best deal for their business.“
For the Global Gate portfolio, the exhibition year of 2018 began with Russia’s interplastica, which took place from 23 until 26 January in Moscow. Over the past few months, the Russian market has shown positive developments, particularly in the plastics, rubber and packaging segment. At interplastica and the parallel trade show upakovka – Processing and Packaging, the positive signals were loud and clear. As important consumer segments consume more, the demand for plastic and rubber products and packaging has risen substantially. In the wake of this upturn, manufacturers of these products are investing in modern production technology and materials to keep abreast of their customers’ more exacting requirements. About 900 companies from 30 countries presented their latest products and services, they all met with very positive reactions and reported impressive results. 24,900 specialists from all over Russia and neighbouring countries visited both trade shows, which will be repeated in 2019, again from 29 January until 1 February at the SAO Expocenter/Krasnaja Presnja.
In February, PLASTINDIA in Ahmedabad/Ghandinagar attracted about 1,800 exhibitors and more than 200,000 visitors. The most important event for the plastics industry in India is hosted at tri-annual intervals for visitors from the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring countries. The Indian market is expected to offer excellent opportunities. Messe Düsseldorf has been cooperating with Plastindia Foundation for many years and, as exclusive Overseas Associate, assists exhibitors from Europe and the US. At the upcoming event in 2021, again in New Delhi, Messe Düsseldorf will be actively involved once more.
Also reporting extremely positive developments, the specialist trade show plast alger, which took place on 13 March at the Centre International de Conférences Abdelatif Rahal CIC in Algiers, attracted more than 5,000 visitors and 220 exhibitors, who engaged in lively business meetings and came away with full order books. With industrialisation progressing fast in Algiers, extensive investments have been made in many areas, among them the automotive industry. This, in turn, has substantially increased the demand from the plastics processing industry, promising a successful future for the industry. A two-day special conference with workshops focused on “Plastics: central material for sustainable development”.
The African trade show plast alger has been organised by Heidelberg-based trade fair specialist fairtrade since 2008, and has been co-hosted by Messe Düsseldorf since 2017. In conjunction with the parallel trade show printpack alger, this event offers one of the most important platforms for the plastics, print, paper and packaging industries in Africa.
Vietnam has the highest economic growth in Southeast Asia, with the demand for plastic and rubber products rising and generating annual growth rates of 15% to 20% in the processing industries. There are clear indications that this trend will continue, leading to reliable and sustainable investment in new plants and technologies. In this growth market, Messe Düsseldorf is active in Plastics & Rubber Vietnam, which has just taken place (20 to 22 March 2018). Hosted in conjunction with ProPak Vietnam, this event attracted 608 exhibitors from 31 countries and about 7,000 visitors to the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, where they exchanged information on the latest product innovations and technology trends and closed numerous deals. In future, Plastics & Rubber Vietnam will be alternating between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, with the upcoming event on 27 until 29 November 2019 being hosted at the International Center for Exhibition I.C.E. in Hanoi.
China is one of the most important markets for the plastics and rubber industry and still has the highest plastics consumption rates in the world. Anyone wishing to be successful in China and its neighbouring countries must attend Chinaplas. As organiser of the federal participation, Messe Du¨sseldorf provides German manufactures with the opportunity to use Chinaplas as their personal gate to the Chinese market. Messe Düsseldorf and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., the organiser of Chinaplas, have been cooperating for many years – to the benefit of their common customers. Again, Chinaplas attracted more than 3,000 exhibitors and 180,000 specialists, who flocked to Shanghai from 24 until 27 April 2018. In 2019, Chinaplas will be hosted in Guangzhou from 21 until 24 May.
In 2015, the economic region of Kazan/Tatarstan successfully launched interplastica Kazan - Trade Fair Plastic and Rubber in conjunction with Tatarstan Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Forum. The autonomous Republic of Tartastan is one of Russia’s fastest growing industrial regions. Due to the region’s rich oil and gas reserves, the government has been investing heavily in downstream industries. The next interplastica Kazan will take place from 12 until 14 September 2018, again as part of the Tatarstan Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Forum.
Indonesia is the fourth-largest nation in the world. Higher spending capacities and improved living standards have lead to a substantial demand for consumer goods and, in its wake, a high demand for plastics and rubber. With INDOPLAS, INDOPACK and INDOPRINT, Messe Düsseldorf has an impressive event package in its portfolio. In September 2016 the three perfectly complementary trade shows attracted 362 exhibitors. About 22,000 visitors from 42 countries forcefully demonstrated the importance of this business platform, which will again be hosted from 19 until 22 September 2018 at the Jakarta International Expo.
IRAN PLAST has become established as the most important specialist trade show for the plastics and rubber industry in Iran. Set up in 2015, the partnership between Messe Düsseldorf and the Iranian National Petrochemical Company NPC as organiser has since been expanded substantially. Iran, a country with 75 million inhabitants, has a strong oil and gas industry that represents more than 50% of the country’s export revenue. However, there is a substantial backlog in the investment goods sector, which is why experts are expecting a rising demand for machinery and systems. A total of 800 exhibitors attended IRAN PLAST in April 2016; the next event will take place from 24 until 27 September 2018 at Tehran’s exhibition centre.
In addition to the trade shows mentioned above, the Messe Düsseldorf Global Gate Portfolio also features Arabplast in Dubai and T-Plas in Bangkok, which will again take place in 2019.
